4WD & CAMP 4 MENTAL HEALTH #7 SAMURAI BEACH
7TH-8TH OCTOBER 2023
Swapped the bush for the beach this camp! A camp that was literally straight out of an Adam Sandler movie.
The recent "Saving True Blues" camp was a memorable event filled with "firsts." For many, it was their first time experiencing the thrill of off-road driving, while others were navigating the challenges of sand driving for the very first time. A remarkable turnout of 32 vehicles, filled with incredible individuals, gathered to raise awareness about suicide prevention and mental health.
The weekend provided valuable lessons, not least of which was the enduring power of sand to infiltrate every nook and cranny! We also learned firsthand the impact of multiple vehicles traversing soft sand. However, these minor challenges paled in comparison to the profound impact of the conversations that unfolded around the campfire.
Sharing stories and experiences within a safe and supportive environment created a powerful sense of community. It was inspiring to witness the openness and vulnerability displayed by our fellow campers, highlighting the importance of honest dialogue and seeking support.
A particular highlight for me was the opportunity to connect with new faces, learn about their lives and passions, and forge new friendships. The camaraderie among the group was truly heartwarming.
This camp was a testament to the power of community and the importance of prioritizing mental health. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our dedicated participants, whose unwavering commitment to this cause makes these events truly special.
What a time to be alive.
