The recent "4WD & CAMP 4 MENTAL HEALTH" expedition to Abercrombie was an unforgettable experience. Over 25 4WD vehicles and 30 participants joined us on this journey, united by a common purpose: to raise awareness about mental health and foster a supportive community.
Throughout the weekend, we shared laughter, tears, and deeply personal stories of struggle and growth. These candid conversations created a powerful sense of connection and understanding among the group. We forged lasting friendships and created memories that will undoubtedly be cherished for years to come.
Abercrombie provided the perfect backdrop for our adventure. With its diverse terrain, we enjoyed challenging 4WD tracks and explored various campsites. We discovered a hidden gem – a stunning campsite nestled by the water with convenient access to facilities.
However, the true highlight of the weekend was the opportunity to connect with others and openly discuss mental health. We learned the importance of checking in on our friends, understanding that sometimes, those who appear the strongest may be facing inner struggles.
A sobering reminder: From January 1st to today, a tragic 263 suspected deaths by suicide have been recorded in NSW alone. Let us remember to check in on our friends, family, and colleagues.
